HYDERABAD: Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on the residence of the tahsildar of Marrigudem in Nalgonda district and allegedly found assets disproportionate to his known source of income. Assets worth 4.5 crore were found, including over 2 crore cash.
The sleuths started their search on Saturday morning at Manchireddy Mahender Reddy’s residence at Hasthinapur. ACB officials had to get a welder to open a trunk in which several wads of currency notes were found. Officials said when they asked Reddy to give the keys, he allegedly did not cooperate.
Later, multiple teams were sent to various locations to conduct searches. Sleuths alleged that he acquired disproportionate assets by indulging in corrupt practices. It is learnt that searches were carried out at residences of Reddy’s relatives and friends. A few months ago, he was posted as Kandukur tahsildar in Rangareddy district.
A case was registered on the charge of disproportionate assets under Prevention of Corruption Act. Reddy was arrested and produced before a judge who sent him to judicial remand.
